The Zourman Drums hi-hat conversion module for ddrum4 SE replaces a standard ddrum4 or ddrum4 SE CAST hi-hat (hall effect-based sensor) with your favourite Roland hi-hat. The historical ddrum4 SE drum module was introduced already 2001 and have since then been one of the legendary giants on the market. But to get these real old propriety systems to work with new technology has been a big challenge – but after many customer requests of getting a replacement for the ddrum4 legacy hi-hat – a solution was created – The Zourman Drums Hi-hat Conversion Module for ddrum4.
The solution is 100% plug and play (only ddrum4 SE hi-hat calibration needed) and handles Roland hi-hat pad (bow supported only) and the hi-hat control pedal through the two input connectors. The Zourman electronics and intelligence combine the two trigger signals and deliver the output into a standard ddrum4 SE hi-hat input (single stereo jack).

To extend the Zourman Drums offerings, we are now adding a new conversion module which will enable 2box owners to use existing non-2box 3 zone rides – particularly the popular Roland range.
Our conversion modules combines the best of both worlds: the Roland CY-13R and CY-15R rides together with the 2box DrumIt Five module. The Zourman 3 zone ride conversion module replaces a standard 2box ride cymbal with your favourite Roland 3 zone ride. The solution is 100% plug and play (only 2box settings needed to be changed) and handles both outputs (bow/edge & bow/bell) on the Roland CY-13R and CY-15R through the two input connectors found on the conversion module. The Zourman Drums electronics and intelligence combine the three+choke trigger signals and deliver the output into a standard 2box 3 zone input (single stereo jack).

I needed to protect my 2box module in a better way when on the road…so just for fun I bought a small red case at Bauhaus and then used a foam cutter to make room for the 2box module and also a Zourman hi-hat conversion module for Roland VH-11. The result can be found on the attached pictures! 🙂
Don’t forget to read the fantastic digitalDrummer magazine, february 2017 edition which covers the latest NAMM exhibition and if you read carefully in the Zourman AD found in the magazine, you will see some hints of future improvements on the Zourman hi-hat conversions. 🙂
Stay tuned for more news!

Tobi a jazz/funk drummer in Germany:
Yes, I am happy with it! I have tested it I compared it to the original and other solutions and it works much better. Still not optimal since it is not like the real hi-hat but much more precise. It follow Hi hat openings faster than other 2box solutions due to the Roland chip based solution.
I will soon test it on a FD-9 and will test this next week
Note: The FD-9 test did actually turned out to be successful – so it is now official supported!
