Legendary 1920s Ludwig Black Beauty sample can be found in 2box DrumIt Three factory library

Hi all!
I just wanted to highlite that a 3 zone flavour (down mic based) of Zourman Drums/Drumforce legendary 1920s Ludwig Black Beauty Snare sample can be found in the factory library of 2box DrumIt Three. (Big thanks to 2box for making this possible!) It is named ZD BB Dow Dry RSC can be found in /snare/3zones on all delivered “Three’s”.

This 14×6.5″ Super-Ludwig Deluxe/Inspiration model is produced somewhere between 1924-1930. A couple of signs indicates that this legendary snare was a preproduction unit to a special artist and that it is therefore produced before 1924 (We believe around 1922). The series was called Black Beauty because of the black shell finnish (often with engravings).

Jouni at Drumforce bought the 14×6.5″ snare from the legendary drumshop Pro DrumShop at Vine Street in Hollywood in 2009 for a fortune. According to Pro DrumShop, the snare had been left by the owner to be sold on consignment. The owner who left it was the legendary Drum Doctor, Ross Garfield. Ross is a well-known drum technician and supplier of drum equipment for some of the best-known bands in the world. (He supplied the drums to Metallicas Black Album)

We can only speculate where this rare snare was been used when Ross owned it and during the time since 1920s. What we do know is that this snare showed up in Sweden and at Big Jambo Studios/Drumforce!

Zourman Drums/DrumForce recently launched the complete pack with the rest of about 6 sound packs of the snare especially for 2box Drumit Three and to support 3 zones. (e.g. Head, Rim & Crosstix in the same dsdn) This pack also works for DrumIt Five, but here you need to manually select between Rim or Crosstix sound.

Take a look on Studio Samples by Drumforce & Zourman Drums

Please note, to be able to utilize 3 zones on DrumIt Three you need to have a piezo, switch and switch based e-pad like the Yamahas. We have implemented it ourselves by using a piezo/piezo based snare + a Roland BT-1, but it will consume one extra channel.

New Hi-hat Conversion Module for ATV aD-H14 and 2box DrumIt Three & Five

Hi!

I have for some time been working to get the fantastic active optical hi-hat from ATV to work with 2box DrumIt Five and Three. (Originally from a customer request)

For DrumIt Five, a conversion module is always required if using other e-hi-hats than 2box own, but for DrumIt Three, which natively supports Roland hi-hats (ATV emulates VH-13) a conversion module is also required. The reason for this is the active ATV hi-hat controller sends out a voltage range instead of a resistance range to handle the open/closed positions. This fools the “Three” module completely but with a conversion module this can be solved.

More information, demos and manual on the new Zourman Drums hi-hat conversion module for ATV aD-H14 can be found on www.zourman.com

Best Regards

Zourman Drums introduces a hi-hat conversion module for ddrum4 SE

The Zourman Drums hi-hat conversion module for ddrum4 SE replaces a standard ddrum4 or ddrum4 SE CAST hi-hat (hall effect-based sensor) with your favourite Roland hi-hat. The historical ddrum4 SE drum module was introduced already 2001 and have since then been one of the legendary giants on the market. But to get these real old propriety systems to work with new technology has been a big challenge – but after many customer requests of getting a replacement for the ddrum4 legacy hi-hat – a solution was created – The Zourman Drums Hi-hat Conversion Module for ddrum4.

The solution is 100% plug and play (only ddrum4 SE hi-hat calibration needed) and handles Roland hi-hat pad (bow supported only) and the hi-hat control pedal through the two input connectors. The Zourman electronics and intelligence combine the two trigger signals and deliver the output into a standard ddrum4 SE hi-hat input (single stereo jack).

ZOURMAN DRUMS LAUNCHES A LUDWIG™ BLACK BEAUTY 1922 SNARE SAMPLES FOR 2BOX™ DRUMIT FIVE MODULE

To extend the Zourman Drums offerings, we are now turning our attention to a custom sound library of samples for 2box. With the 2box open sound source approach, we were able to create a sample package based on a great snare and release it in 2box file format.

The Ludwig Black Beauty snare is a well-known snare to all drummers and treated as the de-facto standard among drummers in the world. This very rare instrument was produced 1922  and despite a history of almost 100 years, the snare still sounds fantastic!

The samples are the result of a joint venture project with Jouni Niemi, owner of Big Jambo Studios, who has been a part of the 2box family since 2009 when he designed many of the factory sounds found in the DrumIt Five module. Together, Zourman Drums aimed to create the best snare samples in the world!

After more than 100 hours of recording, editing, remixing and repackaging of the snare into DSDN file format, the snare sample includes about 10 different ‘flavours’.

How to obtain the snare sample?
New customers can buy the pack at a bargain price on the zourman.com site.

For existing Zourman Drums customers who bought our conversion modules in the past on our zourman.com site, a free version of the pack can be downloaded from your personal account page.

Customers who bought a conversion module from our partners like Jobeky, Drum-Tec or Electronic Drum Center will need to register their account on Zourman.com. A mail will be sent asking for your serial number and which partner it was purchased from. (Please allow some days for handling the request.)
